Sevenoaks bin collections
Nearly every Sevenoaks bin is black, so it's the lid that counts: green for recycling, orange for food, plain black for rubbish. Garden waste is the exception, a green bin with a blue lid, at £65 a year for 240 litres or £48 for the 140 litre size. Food goes on a separate vehicle, so the caddy may be emptied at a different time from the rest.
Wheelie bins instead of bags since October 2026
From 12 October 2026 most Sevenoaks households swapped bags for wheelie bins: a 180 litre black bin for rubbish and a 240 litre green-lid bin for recycling, emptied on alternate weeks. Glass is collected from the kerb for the first time. The lid has to shut, because rubbish left outside the bin stays where it is.
Flats above shops and other homes with no room for bins carry on with sacks. Use the council's find your collection day page to check which week is which.
Which bin is which in Sevenoaks
Rubbish and recycling go fortnightly, food weekly. Food is collected by a separate vehicle, so that bin may be emptied at a different time. Everything out by 7am.
Garden waste: £65 a year
The annual permit is £65 for a 240 litre bin or £48 for a 140 litre bin. An additional bin is £37.50 on top of the £65 permit, and 25 sacks cost £29. Collections run 48 weeks a year, with a four-week break over Christmas and New Year.

Recycling centres in Sevenoaks
The household waste recycling centres are Kent County Council's, and the district has more than 40 recycling bank sites, which you shouldn't use before 8am or after 8pm. The council is struggling to empty its bottle banks at the moment and asks you to keep hold of glass for now.

Get told the night before
Binformation is a free Android app. Put your postcode in once and it sends a notification the evening before each collection, saying which bins are going. If the council moves your day for a bank holiday, the reminder moves with it.
