Delete Your Data

How to remove all data stored by Binformation

Data stored on your device

Binformation stores your address, postcode, coordinates and bin collection schedule locally on your device. No account or cloud sync exists. You can delete this data yourself at any time:

Option 1 — Change address (inside the app)

  1. Open Binformation
  2. Tap the Settings icon (top right)
  3. Tap "Change address"
  4. This clears your saved address, coordinates and cached schedule

Option 2 — Clear app data (Android Settings)

  1. Open your device's Settings
  2. Go to AppsBinformation
  3. Tap StorageClear data
  4. This removes all app data including preferences and reminder settings

Option 3 — Uninstall

Uninstalling Binformation removes all data the app stored on your device.

Data held on our backend

When you look up your bin schedule, the app sends your postcode, coordinates and address to our backend API. The backend does not log these requests. The only server-side storage is a geocoding cache (address lookup responses), which expires automatically after 30 days. Cache entries are keyed by an anonymised hash, not by any personal identifier.

If you would like us to clear your cached geocoding data before the 30-day expiry, email us at:

mark@keepcomputing.co.uk

Include the word "Binformation" and the postcode you used in the app so we can locate the relevant cache entries. We will process your request within 7 days and confirm by reply.

Analytics and crash data

Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data is anonymous and aggregated — it contains no address, postcode or personal identifiers. This data is held by Google under their standard retention policies. You can limit future analytics collection via your device's Settings → Privacy → Usage and diagnostics controls.

For questions about data collected by Google services (AdMob, Firebase, Play Billing), see Google's privacy policy.
