Binformation is an independent app

Binformation is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the UK government, any local council, or any other government entity. Bin collection information shown in the app is sourced from the official services listed below. Your use of this information is solely at your own risk.

Official data sources

Binformation pulls bin collection schedules from individual UK local council websites. It does not generate, predict, or fabricate collection dates; it fetches what each council publishes. When a council changes its schedule (bank holidays, Christmas shifts, Simpler Recycling rollouts), the app picks up the change on its next refresh.

Bin collection schedules

  • Your local council. Collection schedules are fetched from the website of whichever UK local authority covers your postcode. Find your council at gov.uk/find-local-council.
  • UK Bin Collection Data project. An open-source project that maintains the scrapers used to aggregate bin schedules across 334 UK councils: github.com/robbrad/UKBinCollectionData.

Postcode to coordinates

  • postcodes.io — open data built from the ONS Postcode Directory: postcodes.io.

Accuracy and responsibility

The information returned by these services may be incomplete, delayed, or incorrect. Council websites occasionally go offline, change URL structures, or publish the wrong schedule. Always verify important details with your council before making decisions about your bin collection. Binformation will not be liable for missed collections caused by upstream data issues.
