Gloucester bin collections
Gloucester runs a closed-lid, no side waste rule on the black bin, so loose bags left next to it stay put. Since February 2026 new and replacement containers cost money too: £25 for a standard black bin, £7 for a green recycling box.
Which bin is which in Gloucester
The green box with a lid takes glass, and another takes plastic, tins and cans. Cardboard and paper go in the blue sack. A few terraced streets with tight access get weekly sack collections instead of a bin.
Garden waste: £60 a year
£60 per bin for the 2026 subscription, with no discounts. Collections run from 1 February to 30 November and stop completely in December and January. If you can't use the website, call 01452 396 396.
Food waste collection
Weekly, collected with the recycling. You get a 23 litre outdoor caddy and a 7 litre one for the kitchen. Replacements cost £6 for the large and £2.50 for the small.
Report a missed bin
Report once your round has finished, up to 4pm the next working day. The crew comes back within two working days.

Get told the night before
Binformation is a free Android app. Put your postcode in once and it sends a notification the evening before each collection, saying which bins are going. If the council moves your day for a bank holiday, the reminder moves with it.
