Check your bin day

Put in your postcode and house number. We ask your council's own system for your next collections and show you which bin goes out when.

Why it asks for your house number

Councils run collections by property, not by postcode. One postcode can cover both sides of a road on different rounds, or a block of flats with communal bins on a different day to the houses next door. Your number or house name is how we find you in the council's list.

Live in a flat? Try "Flat 3, 12" first. If the council only lists the building, we'll try the building number on its own.

Why it sometimes takes a while

There's no national bin database. Every lookup goes to your council's own website, and some of those are slow. Most answers come back in 5 to 20 seconds. A few councils take closer to a minute. Once we have your dates we keep them for six hours, so checking again is instant.

What happens to your postcode

Your postcode and house number go to our server, which asks your council. The result is kept for six hours so repeat checks don't hammer the council's website, then it's deleted. It isn't tied to a name, an email address or an account. "Remember on this device" saves your address in your own browser, nowhere else; untick it and it's forgotten. A Cloudflare security check runs in the background to keep bots out. The detail is in the privacy policy.

Want it to remind you?

The free Binformation app does this lookup for you every day and sends a notification the evening before each collection, saying which bins are going. When a bank holiday moves your day, the reminder moves with it. Android only for now.
