Haringey bin collections
Two black wheelie bins can sit outside a Haringey house, and the lid is how you tell them apart. Green lid for recycling, black lid for rubbish.
Which bin is which in Haringey
Black wheelie bins are for single households. The big silver ones are shared between several. Food goes in the green outdoor caddy, and garden waste in the brown bin if you pay for it.
Garden waste: £90 a year
Collected weekly by Veolia. It's £90 a year for a 240 litre bin or £67.50 for a 140 litre bin or sacks, on a year running 1 April to 31 March. You're charged the full amount whenever you join, so renew before 1 April to get a whole year out of it.
Food waste collection
Kitchen caddy indoors, green food bin outside, or shared food bins on estates. Replacements are ordered from Veolia.
Report a missed bin
Bulky waste collection from £20
£20 for one to four items, £30 for five, then £10 for each extra item up to ten (£80). Have everything at street level outside your front boundary by 6.30am. Upholstered furniture, cushions and child seats are collected separately and may come a day later.

Get told the night before
Binformation is a free Android app. Put your postcode in once and it sends a notification the evening before each collection, saying which bins are going. If the council moves your day for a bank holiday, the reminder moves with it.
