Dundee bin collections
Dundee runs three bins on three different cycles: grey every two weeks, burgundy every three, blue every four. Glass isn't collected from the kerb at all, so that goes to your local recycling point.
Which bin is which in Dundee
Grey for general waste, with no side waste allowed. Paper and card go in the blue bin, and plastics, metal and cartons in the burgundy one. Your dates for all three are on the MyDundee bin calendar.
Garden waste: £50 a year
£50 per brown bin for a 2026 permit, which buys 20 fortnightly collections from March. Join late and you still pay the full amount, with no instalments, for fewer collections. The sticker can take up to 21 working days to arrive. Order through MyDundee or by phone.
Weekly food waste collection
Collected every week, the only Dundee bin on a weekly cycle.

Bulky waste collection from £38
£38 for up to six items, £64 for seven to twelve. Anything bigger needs an inspection and costs £87 per half hour. Book online with an itemised list and have everything out by 7.30am, because the crew can turn up any time until 3pm. Customer services on 01382 436238 can chase an uplift that didn't happen.

Get told the night before
Binformation is a free Android app. Put your postcode in once and it sends a notification the evening before each collection, saying which bins are going. If the council moves your day for a bank holiday, the reminder moves with it.
