North Northamptonshire bin collections
Food waste collections start in the Kettering and Wellingborough areas from April 2027. That date has already slipped once (it was meant to be October 2026), so treat it as a target. Elsewhere in North Northamptonshire, a separate lorry empties the food caddy each week.
Kettering and Wellingborough food waste delayed to April 2027
The council has put back food waste collections in the Kettering and Wellingborough areas again, now to the week of 5 April 2027. Some homes there will get a new bin day at the same time, though how often each bin goes won't change. Households that are affected will get a letter in early 2027.
Which bin is which in North Northamptonshire
Black bin for general waste. Everything needs to be out before 6.30am.
Garden waste: £62 a year
£62 per bin for a 12-month subscription, up to 4 bins per household with each one a full subscription. A pack of 10 sacks is £22.50, booked 3 working days ahead. Collections run all year except for a two-week break at Christmas. New garden waste bins are black with a brown lid as bin colours are being unified.
Weekly food waste collection
Weekly where it runs. You get a silver 5 litre kitchen caddy and a green 23 litre outdoor caddy, picked up by a separate lorry on the same day as your rubbish or recycling.
Report a missed bin
Residents have 72 hours from the scheduled collection to report it.
Bulky waste collection from £41.75
£41.75 for up to 5 items, and you can add up to 7 more at £6.25 each, so 12 is the maximum. Fridge and freezer collections have been suspended for now after a fire at a recycling facility.
Get told the night before
Binformation is a free Android app. Put your postcode in once and it sends a notification the evening before each collection, saying which bins are going. If the council moves your day for a bank holiday, the reminder moves with it.
