Doncaster bin collections

A green garden waste bin comes as standard in Doncaster, and you only pay if you want a second. Bank holidays mostly don't move your collection either: rounds run Tuesday to Friday, Good Friday included, and only Christmas and New Year shift the dates.

New brown bin: hold on before you use it

Doncaster is delivering a brown wheelie bin to homes now. Once the new service starts, plastics, cans and cartons go in the brown bin and the blue bin takes only paper and card. Collections begin in 2027, area by area, and the council will tell you when yours starts. Until then, leave the brown bin empty and carry on as you are.

Garden waste: £47.50 a year

An extra green bin is £47.50 a year, and each one after that is £36, paid upfront. There's no reduction for joining partway through the year and no refunds. Extra bins need a permit on show, and collections are fortnightly from March.

Get told the night before

Binformation is a free Android app. Put your postcode in once and it sends a notification the evening before each collection, saying which bins are going. If the council moves your day for a bank holiday, the reminder moves with it.
