Dacorum bin collections

Every Dacorum wheelie bin is grey. The lid is what tells them apart: blue for recycling, green for garden waste, and a plain grey bin for rubbish, which swaps weeks with the recycling.

Which bin is which in Dacorum

The grey bin and the blue-lidded bin go out on alternate fortnights. Bins and caddies need to be at your property boundary by 6.45am.

Christmas and New Year collections 2026

In Christmas week it's the blue-lidded bin and food caddy, and they come early, with Monday 21 December moving to Saturday 19 December. The following week's grey bin and food collections go later instead, and New Year's Day's round doesn't happen until Monday 4 January.

Garden waste: £60 a year

£60 for the 2026 season, or £40 if you get Council Tax Support. Collections run fortnightly from March to November, only for subscribers, and each bin needs its own subscription. A new or extra bin carries a one-off £40 delivery charge, and there are no refunds.

Weekly food waste collection

Weekly. You're given a kitchen caddy and a green kerbside one.

Report a missed bin

Report it by 5pm on the next working day, or within 48 hours for garden waste. Crews come back within five working days, but if the bin wasn't out, was too heavy or was contaminated, the return trip costs £53.

Report a missed bin to Dacorum

Bulky waste collection from £57

£57 for up to three items or £87 for up to six, dropping to £45 and £60 with a Dacorum Card. Metal, electricals, white goods and upholstered items are collected on separate days and charged separately. Booking is by phone only.

Recycling centres in Dacorum

Hertfordshire recycling centres need an ePass, and you'll need a van permit if you're turning up in a van.

Get told the night before

Binformation is a free Android app. Put your postcode in once and it sends a notification the evening before each collection, saying which bins are going. If the council moves your day for a bank holiday, the reminder moves with it.
